Generating a follower base for your LinkedIn company page is not easy, especially if you are a small business or start-up.

You could create tons and tons of great content and post it across all of your social media channels and not get a single new follower! Content alone is not the answer, here are some simple ideas for increasing your follower base.

1) Ask for the follow

One very simple reason why people don’t follow your LinkedIn company page is because you didn’t ASK them to. If you would like to increase your number of followers simply start sharing your company page link with your network of 1st connections via a simple request:

“We’d like to invite you to follow our new company page!  If you’d like to be kept up to date on the latest….insert your companies UVP, products and services information…. then follow us?” It only takes a few seconds using this link.”

I would also suggest making it as easy as possible for people to find your social media feeds on your website, don’t hide them on your ‘contact us’ page, put them at the top of every page on your website:

2) Two Heads are better than one, four heads are better than two….

You get the gist, So you are a small business, you don’t have thousands of employees to like, share and comment on your company posts, don’t despair just create a content sharing strategy, find similar like-minded business owners who are in the same boat and in non-competing industries, then create a reciprocal content sharing team.

3) Follow Others

It’s called Social Media for a reason, so be Social, ‘Like’ ‘Comment on’ and ‘Share’ other peoples posts, follow other people and companies, in particular follow all of your 1st connections, like their posts, make a comment here or there. When you follow them, they’ll follow you back. Simple.

4) Add your LinkedIn URL to your email signature

We all send lots of emails every day, you should include quick-links to all of your social media pages in your email signature.

5) You can’t manage what you don’t measure

Create a follower tracking spreadsheet for all of your company’s Social Media pages, this way you can track the growth of your follower base and measure the most effective activities that are driving this growth.

You will quickly see which activities are generating the most new followers and then you can focus your efforts on those activities.
